Nomad cinema festival
In 2015, I took this picture after I finished shooting my first movie. I decided to film in a small village, far from the city with the children who lived there. The village provided a great atmosphere to support the message of the movie, and the children of the village enjoyed being involved in the process.
After a few months, I finished editing, and when the movie was ready, I returned to the village to show them the movie on my laptop. They were so overjoyed to see themselves on film, and it was incredible to discuss their thoughts and experiences of the film with them. The memory of that experience will always stay with me.
After I finished my Master’s degree, I wanted to repeat this experience and take it further.
I’ve been working on this idea for a year and a half, and I build it in my imagination and dream about it. Now it is time to share it with you.
It is a project based on my background and personality combined with questions about the essence of art, travel, community, and love. It is a festival which will aim to bring cinema to the remotest places in Morocco–the mountains, desert countryside, and far villages where children have never seen anything on the big screen or even on a TV. I want to bring the magic and charm of a Charlie Chaplin film or the laughter and playfulness of Mr. Bean to places that have never before seen it–with your help.
I imagine this festival with a big screen for showing movies along with a workshop for children. While the festival is for everyone, I hope really encourage and engage children’s love for the arts. I and my team will film and make a documentary about the process of the festival. We will move every three months and spend two weeks putting on the festival and making an episode of the documentary in the remotest places in Morocco, which we will show to you at each stage.
To bring this idea to fruition, I will need your help and support to overcome the budget constraints which prevent this project from becoming reality.
We need your donations as a start to set up the festival and make the first episode of our documentary. Once we have an initial seed donation, we can invest in online fundraising efforts to find sponsors who can help us reach the amount we need to develop the festival and keep it running.
